February 27th - March 3rd

 North Ridge Families,

I hope that your week is off to a great start! Here are the weekly updates for North Ridge Elementary

Behavior Universal Screener

It is a tool used to help identify students who are at risk of future academic, behavioral, or emotional difficulties. Just like some students benefit from additional academic support and interventions, we know some students would benefit from additional support to strengthen their behavioral, social, and emotional skills.

The data generated from this screener will also help us determine district and school-wide programs, interventions, and training needs for staff.

Our district is using the research-based screening tool Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System-2, or BIMAS-2 (pronounced BYE-mahs two).

We have been phasing in the screener since 2019. All WCPSS schools will be screening students by 2025.

North Ridge students will be participating in the upcoming weeks. Next week, I will share an opt out form that you are able to complete if you would prefer not to have your child participate. Here is the link for more information about BIMAS - https://www.wcpss.net/Page/41734

After Care for the 2023-2024 school year

For multiple reasons (hiring staff, student ratios, wait list, content) North Ridge ES will be moving from an in-house after school care program to partnering with the YMCA (Finley) after school program. If you have been utilizing our in-house After Care program, please complete this 2 question survey - 23-24 After Care Program interest form. We currently have 50 families that have completed the survey and wanted to be able to communicate to the YMCA how many students to plan for so they can staff appropriately.

Have you wondered if a book is good for your child’s age --- is my child too young to play a game - https://www.commonsensemedia.org/ is a great resource that provides parents and guardians with information about the ratings of books, movies, games and more. We will continue to highlight different aspects of this site.

 North Ridge Families,

I hope that your week is off to a great start! Here are the weekly updates for North Ridge Elementary!

Celebrating our Counselors Week

Let's show our appreciation for Mrs. Allen and Mr. Pendleton this week. Feel free to have your child (or yourself) write a note, email or card to show your thanks to all they do for our school daily!

Student Wellness (Sick policy)

We are in the cold and flu season and still experiencing positive Covid cases in the community. The best thing you can do is to keep your children home when sick. This will help stop the spread of illness to other children and staff. Please read this message from our school nurse on When my child should stay home. It is important for all of us to work to keep our school family safe!
